Security

We take security very seriously to ensure the safety of every child. There is one clearly marked drop off and collection point at each camp patrolled by our uniformed staff. We have a register of each child arriving at camp.  When your child is dropped off you will be given a password. In order to collect your child from the same location, you will need to quote that password. Your child will be signed in and out by our staff.

You will be given a phone number to contact our camp manager in case you need to contact us in an emergency.  We will of course contact you, should any problem arise.

Uncollected Child

All children must be collected by 6pm at the latest. We have no facilities to keep children after this time. Should you encounter an emergency, please advise us immediately so that appropriate alternative arrangements can be made.  We reserve the right to charge you an additional £5 per 15 minutes delay. If you do not contact us and your child is not collected by 8pm we will be obliged to contact Social Services.

Health & Safety

Risk Assessments are prepared for each site and activity. A Fire Evacuation Policy is in place and a Fire Drill is conducted on each Monday morning of camp. We use an Incident Report Form to record any accident or incident that may occur with a child. This form requires a signature from both the Camp Manager and a parent. A Behaviour and Bullying Policy is also followed to ensure every child can fully enjoy our camp.

Medication, Illness & Special Needs

We will send you a Medical Information Form when you book and would ask you to complete this with any information we may need for your child. Any required medicines (inhaler etc) should be given to the camp manager.

If your child falls ill before the camp he should not be brought to camp. If he becomes unwell at camp we will make him as comfortable as possible and call you to collect him.

We believe that wherever possible children with Special Needs should be given access to our Camps. If your child has Special Needs please call our office to discuss these before making a booking.

Photos

We may take photographs and videos at our Camp to help us with future staff training and marketing. If you wish to exclude your child from this you must notify us in writing before the camp begins.

Safeguarding Children

We make all our staff aware of Child Protection Issues at Recruitment and during their induction. All are CRB checked. Every child is told that they can talk privately to our Camp Manager about any concerns they may have. Equally if a staff member has good reason to suspect that a child may be suffering from abuse then we are obliged to report this to the relevant authorities.

Concerns & Complaints

It is our mission to give every child a great camp experience so that they really don’t want it to end. If a child is unhappy we definitely want to know about it so that we can put it right and learn from the problem. If we are told during the camp as soon as possible after the problem arises we believe that we can quickly solve it. If you make it known to our Camp Manager and the problem is not resolved then please phone, email or write to our Head Office. We will make sure that we do our utmost to resolve the problem and send you a written reply as soon as possible.

Children must be collected by 6pm but if this is impossible due to an emergency please phone to tell us. We reserve the right to charge £5 per 15 minutes delay.

3 Where are the drop off / collection zones?

These will be clearly marked by our staff at the entrance to the school

4 What happens at drop off and collection?

Our staff will have a register of all the children coming to the camp on the day and you must sign in and sign out your child. You will also be given a password. If you are having your child collected by someone else you must inform us of this and make sure you give them the password to avoid any misunderstandings.

5 How will the children be arranged in groups?

We will arrange the groups daily at 9.15am on an age basis but allowing for friends and relatives where possible. If you are going to arrive late please phone so that your child can still be assigned to an appropriate group. It is likely that the maximum age range in a group will be no more than 2 years.

6 Do you have a set timetable of activities?

No, we finalise our timetable each day to give us maximum flexibility to allow for the weather and the numbers of children in each age group. Each child will be offered a range of Art, Drama/Movement, Sport, Games and Adventure activities. We have 40 core activities available pus 10 special activities.

7 Can my child choose his activities?

To a certain extent only. He can opt out of any activity in which case we will try to find him a good alternative if there is a place available in another appropriate group.

8 Who are the staff?

Our staff team is trained and experienced in working with children. They may already work in a Residential Activity Centre or be experienced in Day Camps. They may be qualified schoolteachers or students on a course of teacher training. Some are specialist instructors. All are selected for their motivation and child-friendly approach. They are trained and qualified for their positions and promote our camp ethos of providing a friendly, helpful and welcoming face. All are CRB checked.

9 Does my child need to bring a packed lunch?

Yes, please provide this along with a drink and any other snacks he may want. Please DO NOT INCLUDE NUTS. We provide juice at morning, lunch and afternoon breaks with water available throughout the day.

10 What else does he need to bring?

Please bring a change of clothes in case he gets wet. A refillable water bottle is also useful.  Please refer to the What to Bring and Wear list above

Comfortable older clothes (tracksuit, shorts, T shirts, Polo shirt, jumper) that can be run around in and you are not afraid of getting dirty, plus a good, comfortable pair of non-marking trainers (for use in the Sports Hall). 12 What should not be brought?

Smart ‘dressing-up’ clothes, there is no need for these.

Money, we deliberately have no Tuck Shop and there is nothing to buy.

Mobiles, Ipods and other electronic marvels or valuable items. If you believe a mobile is essential for a particular reason please leave this with the camp manager to be made available on request.

13 What happens to lost items?

We try to avoid this happening by asking you to have name-tags in clothes and not to bring valuable items. Any lost property found will be stored by the Camp Manager and can be claimed at collection time.

14 What happens if a child is ill?

If the child is ill before camp they should not come on that date. If you have taken out our insurance you will receive a full refund. If a child falls ill at camp we will make him as comfortable as possible and call you to collect him.
